Images of Solitude

Human Theatre director Tora Hylands exhibited a series of photos as part of the Vancouver Pride / Queer Arts Festival this summer. Tora’s work is a collection of impulsive images taken on her Olympus OM-2 SLR, which she describes as “captured moments of solitude” after realising that every image was either shot while she was alone or with a solitary subject. She prefers the lush quality of film over digital media and usually shoots into light, introducing a random element to the finished image. Tora’s work was viewed at the J Lounge on Bute Street at Davie, from 6:pm till late, July 29th 2010.
